BNI Pitch

Take Aim

Which is more important? The plan or the execution? In my approach to Exit Planning Coaching, execution is key. Keep the plan light.

This post is about one of my 45-second pitches at my BNI Chapter, BNI City Business. You can read the introduction to this collection here.

30 June, 2023. This week was a meme-first slide, with the message developed to fit.

‘Ready, Fire, Aim’ was something a former CEO I worked for (Dennis Pickup at Auckland Healthcare) in the ’90s used to say. The importance of execution; don’t spend all your time planning. This is another Good Enough-like message, and has long resonated with me.

You could probably split the world into two: those that believe the plan is more important than the execution, and those that don’t. Both have their merits. At their extremes, neither really works. You need at least a little bit of direction to start, and you can adjust as you go. This is a philosophy that underpins my approach to Exit Planning. The process needs to be somewhat fluid – agile if you like – to make the journey work for my clients. Nothing is set in stone.

This slide is also part of an experiment I have been working on in preparation for my next 5-minute BNI presentation, due mid-July. How long can the meme caption be for people in the room not to give up reading? I think this is near the limit. There may be other factors at play as well. The testing continues.
