BNI Pitch

Stuck

Getting Unstuck: finding ways to move forward in business. It's not always about goals and vision. Sometimes it is about now.

This post is about one of my 45-second pitches at my BNI Chapter, BNI City Business. You can read the introduction to this collection here

After my Lost In Translation series, I was a bit stuck as to topic areas. And then this Spock meme came into my feeds, and it seemed somewhat (obliquely) on topic.

The original attributed the ‘quote’ to Dr Spock, so I had planned to pick up on that in my 45-seconds – totally nerd out, explaining the difference between the pediatrician and the Star Trek character – but decided against it at the last minute. The joke was in the Vulcan greeting, and I didn’t need to add anything.

We all get stuck in business, and sometimes we need to ask for help to get dislodged, to get moving again. I had a drink with a former colleague before Easter who lamented the lack of connectedness in business. I guess this is another way of saying It’s Lonely at the Top… One of the jobs of a coach is being there to have those conversations, to help people get Unstuck.

I find many conversations I have with business owners are not so much about strategy, goals, and long-term vision. Some are about the now. Some are about the small steps forward we all need to make.
