4 November, 2022. My original plan was to have this slide followed by a variation on the joke the following week, with the same tagline. It didn’t play out this way, but I had a good reaction all the same. I am pretty sure everyone in the room got the joke.
Below is the meme I had intended to use the following week. Same joke, different setup.

My idea was to reinforce the message of ‘Asking the same thing in different ways‘ during due diligence. I have found that by asking what appears to be the same thing differently, I get different answers – which is something worth probing. At this stage in the relationship with the vendor, you are typically not yet on the same page. You don’t speak the same language, use the same jargon. You might ask X, but they interpret it as Y, and provide an answer to a different question.
