BNI Pitch

Don’t Ask What That Means

Don't try to outsmart your audience with jargon or big words you don't normally use, and don't know how to use properly.

This post is about one of my 45-second pitches at my BNI Chapter, BNI City Business. You can read the introduction to this collection here.

24 March, 2023. I could very quickly see who in the chapter got this, and who didn’t.

When communicating – about your business or in general – it is a good idea to try and avoid jargon or unfamiliar words. I see this all the time online – someone selecting the wrong word in an attempt to seem educated or worldly, but getting it wrong. The reality of communicating without proofreading or editors. The message is quite straightforward, paired with a perfect example of mis-translation.
