BNI Pitch

Extra Crispy

As a business owner, you need to be prepared. Do you have a business continuity plan in place for the event of your death?

This post is about one of my 45-second pitches at my BNI Chapter, BNI City Business. You can read the introduction to this collection here.

May 26, 2023. This image had been in social feeds recently, and it appealed to my sense of humour. I had been planning another Death-oriented message anyway, so this was a great image to use. The original image got bumped and re-purposed a few weeks later.

Many find talking about death to be distasteful, but as a business owner, you need to be prepared.

Do you have a will? If you don’t, you need one. Talk to a family lawyer and plan your legacy.

Now, do you have a ‘business will’ – a continuity plan for the event of your death? This is just as important as your will, but will typically be more urgent.

  • Who has access to your business bank accounts?
  • Who has the passwords and codes to your business systems?
  • Do you have ‘key person’ insurance to help maintain the business operations in your absence?

In most cases, your business is your legacy. Not only is it the source of your wealth, but also the source of your family’s income after you have gone. This is something you can and should prepare for.

If you would like to chat about how you can prepare your business legacy, give me a call.
