BNI Pitch

Ting bu dong

Ensure understanding when talking about your business. Ensure your discussions make sense to a prospective purchaser.

This post is about one of my 45-second pitches at my BNI Chapter, BNI City Business. You can read the introduction to this collection here.

Another entry in my Lost In Translation series, presented on February 24, 2023. When talking about your business, be on the lookout for ‘I don’t understand’ responses (or looks!). When the other party doesn’t understand what you are saying – for any reason – you need to spend some time going back over the topic in order to ensure they get it.

Because if they don’t get it, they will (unintentionally) fill the gap by making something up that makes sense to them.

The sentiment arose from a discussion I had before Christmas with another BNI member. The graphic seemed to be a perfect fit.

And 听不懂 was one of the first phrases I learned in Mandarin: (Wo) Ting bu dong – “I don’t understand.’
