BNI Pitch

Cut Through The Jargon

Slide #35 - When buying a business in an industry you are unfamiliar with, ensure you understand the jargon and terminology used.

This post is about one of my 45-second pitches at my BNI Chapter, BNI City Business. You can read the introduction to this collection here.

25 November, 2022. A common area I find business buyers stumbling on is industry jargon. And they are often to proud to admit that are not as au fait with the lingo as they tried to portray. As a result, they misunderstand key information that can be material to their purchase decision. I coach my clients to ask about all jargon they see in writing or in discussions, and build a glossary as they go. Even if they think they understand a term, it pays to confirm as they go.

This was a concept I initially found quite difficult to match to a joke that didn’t go on too long. Fortuitously, I came across this meme with a different image:

I thought a picture of a patient on his phone a better match, and used Canva to generate the image.
